Position: Business Development Specialist

SUMMARY:

The City of Wilson is seeking a Business Development Specialist to support strategic economic development initiatives across the city’s commercial corridors. This position plays a key role in business recruitment, retention, and expansion efforts, with a particular emphasis on revitalizing disinvested and underperforming commercial areas.

Responsibilities include supporting private investment in targeted corridors, facilitating property redevelopment efforts, conducting market analysis, coordinating with developers and entrepreneurs, and aligning public incentives with catalytic projects. The position works collaboratively with city leadership, community stakeholders, and private partners to strengthen Wilson’s local economy and advance long-term redevelopment goals.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in economic development, real estate, planning, business development, or a related field, along with strong project management and stakeholder coordination skills.
